I cannot be part of the solution
And the problem too.
I’m either helping others,
By what I say and do,
Or harming them with division,
Self-righteousness, and pride.
Do I want to be right or loving?
We all must pick a side.
I can’t be both solution and problem,
So I have to choose.
Because we – as a society –
Have everything to lose.
But here’s the rub,
We also have everything to gain,
By taking focus off how we’re different,
And honing in on how we’re the same.
We can’t afford all the division any longer,
If we lean into each other,
We can only come out stronger.
